Islanders have just come through a brutal winter and cabin fever is a common complaint so what better way to get out of the house and check for bargains then the annual Pinch Penny Fair at the Confederation Centre of the Arts Saturday.

Hundreds of people jammed Memorial Hall and the space surrounding that searching for that special something hidden among other peoples' hidden gems for which they were searching.

Bargain hunters could choose from art works, jewellery, fresh vegetables, books - tons of books -  and anything else that the heart might have desired. It is not known if any million dollar treasures were found, but everyone seemed hapy with what they bought.

All proceeds go to The Friends of Confederation Centre.
