Goodwin Road in Wellington, Gaudet Road in Tignish, Marchbank Road near Elmsdale and Dunk River Road in Central Bedeque closed due to flooding.

All things considered, P.E.I. could have done much worse than it did during the recent deluge of melting snow and rain.

As of Tuesday, four roads in Prince County remained closed because they’d been compromised in some way. Two other roads, one in each of the other two counties, also remain closed.

Darren Chaisson, with the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal, said the roads still closed are: Goodwin Road in Wellington, Gaudet Road in Tignish, Marchbank Road near Elmsdale, Dunk River Road in Central Bedeque, Crabbe Road in South Winsloe and the Souris Line Road.

All roads except Dunk River Road should be open by early next week, said Chaisson.

That road had a large culvert fail so it will be a matter of weeks before it’s repaired.

“We’re hopeful we won’t see anything like what we saw last week again this spring,” he added.

At one point last week dozens of roads across the Island had to be closed due to runoff.
