Building used in fishing operation burns, along with utility barn nearby
Fire departments from around the region were called to barns on fire along the Harper Road near Tignish Monday.
Residents on the road say it appears to be a barn that was used to store and maintain fishing gear, plus a smaller utility barn on the neighbour's land next to it. The boat is not housed in the barn, witnesses said.
Tignish, Alberton and Miminegash fire departments are attending at the scene.
The barns are destroyed, said Jerome Arsenault who owns the smaller of the two barns. The barn on his land is next to the bigger barn next door owned by Alex Tremblay.
Arsenault said he was just arriving home when he saw the fire but has no way of knowing any other details at this early point in the incident.
