Gas prices

It’s a bit more expensive to fill up at the pumps today after the Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission allowed a four-cents-per-litre increase to gas prices.

But Islanders who heat with oil will see a bit of a break with the price of furnace oil dropping by five cents per litre.

Diesel prices also dropped 5.1 cents per litre.

With the latest price adjustment, Islanders will pay between $1.397 and $1.408 for regular gasoline at self-serve pumps and up to $1.454 for full serve.

Islanders are self important. We have the population of a town in Ontario, and we think we have the clout to tell "Big Oil" where to go. Irvings could stop delivering to PEI altogether and not lose much off their bottom line.

If we all look back to 2008 when oil prices went from$140plus a barrel down to $20 a barrell . The govt never lowered the gas prices at the same rate . Before 2008 our price per liter was staying with the price per barrel .now the govt and the oil companies donor want to see this happen again so we will never see it lower any great amount until the people of this great country stick together and just keep calling on their Mla's to do something about it . Until then we are at their mercy

Hard to believe when oil companies drill a well they base it on making a profit at 25 dollars a barrel.Only 10 percent of the gas taxes go to fixing roads the rest goes into the pocket of the government.

We are being gouged in all ways. Taxes are over 43 cents per litre on gas yet the Government will not even discuss lowering the taxes to help Islanders. They are following their motto of NEVER GIVE A SUCKER AN EVEN BREAK. While on the subject of being gouged does anyone besides me realize that we are paying $1.80 per litre for milk 40 cents more per litre then gas and milk is a renewable resource replenished daily. Thank you to the large dairies and I certainly hope that you enjoy the 600,000 of taxpayers money you got to buy a cheese slicer.

What did you expect , weather is getting warmer so heating season is near over . Summer is coming so it's time to rip us off at gas tank's . I thank all you Liberal Voters for the fine situation we now find ourselves in . Stop bitching , isn't this what you wanted LOL

WOW !! Furnace oil prices are down !! Isn't that a coincidence considering that furnace oil season is now over. So let raise gas prices and gouge consumers on this product. What a scam !!

When are we, islanders, going to start standing up to IRAC and the government regarding these constant increases when our own financial resources aren't increasing. When are we going to begin to be the voice for all islanders? When are we going to take a stand against this borderline 'communist' environment?

when you vote them out. islanders voted them in a 2nd time knowing what they did the 1st time so really you have no one to blame but the liberal voters. and they know you will put them in a 3rd term. mainly because the pc party has no one as a leader and if the leader does not obey like a good little dog they are gone. they proved that with pat and olive. it is up to the pc members to fix the problem by getting clear of the garbage in the back room.

Now were is the explanation , for the adjustment which was promised months ago . An explanation that was supposedly going to follow every adjustment , which lasted for one adjustment . Guess we can blame this one on Russia or is it because of the lunar eclipse .

Can those 'elitists' of the IRAC, who have these well-paid patronage appointments, please tell us mere mortals the reason(s) for these changes, as per their commitment of November, 2013? Or do we continue to assume that they have been told to do so by 'Big Oil'?

Although the price for hearing oil and diesel is a welcome sign, gas goes up by four cents a litre! What a joke. It is getting increasingly, no IMPOSSIBLE to makes ends meet here on PEI. They butter us up with small 1 cent per litre decreases then slam us with a large increase. The PEI way or better yet, the CANADIAN WAY is getting more than a little hard to swallow....all taxes folks! 6 hours away in the U.S fuel is 40 cents per litre cheaper when you figured out the conversion. Yes...40 CENTS cheaper. Not to mention everything else is cheaper too!!!. Things are going to have to change around here or more and more people will be leaving PEI, and Canada for that matter also. The land of opportunity and prosperity has you so far behind from the start...you'll never dig out. Fed up and disgusted!!
