Kirkland Signature brand grilled chicken breast strips have been recalled over concerns they could be contaminated with listeria.

Islanders who bought Kirkland Signature brand grilled chicken breast strips should check the packaging after the manufacturer issued a recall Thursday over possible listeria contamination.

The chicken strips sold in Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland and Labrador bear UPC 096619707874 with best before dates from April 13-26.

Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the store where they were purchased.

Listeria can cause vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headaches and neck stiffness, although in severe cases it can be deadly.

No Kirkland is the brand that is sold at Costco so it would apply to islanders that might have went to Costco as many do and bought them there
