UPDATE: Power restored to 5,800 Maritime Electric customers

About 5,800 customers in Southern Kings lost their power just before 5 p.m.

Maritime Electric says as of 6 p.m. half of those customers had the power restored but approximately 1,800 customers were still without electricty in Dover and surrounding areas.

Power was fully restored to all customers by approximately 8:30 p.m.

"We had a broken piece of equipment on Bruce Road" said Kim Griffin, spokeswoman for Maritime Electric.

Communities affected by the outage were Vernon River, Point Prim, Valleyfield, Victoria Cross, Wood Islands, Murray River, Lower Montague, Montague, Murray Harbour, Panmure Island, Beach Point and surrounding areas.

    what about the people in wilmot and wilmot valley who lost power last night? are they not important to tell them why they lost power?
