Man charged with impaired driving after vehicle rollover in Vernon River

VERNON RIVER - A 55-year-old man has been charged with impaired driving after police discovered a single-vehicle rollover here Sunday morning.

Kings District RCMP discovered the collision on Route 3 just seconds after it happened.

Upon stopping the police car, officers saw the uninjured driver being helped out of the driver’s side door by another motorist.

The car was resting on its passenger door.

The driver showed signs of impairment while speaking to RCMP.

As a result of the investigation, the man was charged and released. He will appear in provincial court in Charlottetown on April 14.

The RCMP said it would like to remind the public to report any suspicions of impaired drivers to help assist in keeping Prince Edward Island roads safe for the traveling public.
