It is cheaper for the taxpayer to treat the addict than to house them in jail.

After the recent drug raids, which were a great thing, this sort of crime should have been anticipated. People are getting desparate but where is the help for them? Where is the additional policing resources for Charlottetown businesses? Why wasn't there additional resources put in place to deal with the very obvious outcome of people requiring access to treatment? Doug Currie has time to give breakfast meetings at $50 a plate, where he is going to discuss the future of health care... but obviously, he doesn't care one bit about Island youth and someone should find out where the $50 fee goes. It sure isn't going into providing treatment. The girl in this video needs help and I pray that she gets it somewhere. What she did was wrong but PEI government's lack of attention to this issue is more wrong.

Arm the store clerks with Taser guns (the type that shoot a distance). I'll bet the bums won't be robbing stores with dirty needles and little box knives anymore. Just a non lethal solution for yas. Cops use them so why not the clerk if needed.

usually these types of stores lock the doors and have to buzz people in. that being said there is usually an intercom. why not inform the person before you let them in at that time of night to remove the hood and hat for instance before they go into the store.

It's getting to the point where convenience stores won't be open all night anymore. Pretty sure you can get your carb and slurpee fix bought by 11 PM in most cases.
