The Town of Montague did something it hasn't done in 97 years Friday. It handed over the key to the town and the mayor's chain of office for the day.

Hometown girl Kerri Wynne MacLeod accepted the honour of being the town's mayor for a day from every-other-day mayor, Richard Collins, during a presentation to the well-known singer, entertainer and radio personality Friday.

MacLeod was recognized for her support and promotion of the town of Montague.

I would like to express my sincere congratulations to Kerri-Wynne for her body of work that resulted in this great honour; however, it is a historical omission to forget about another legendary honorary political figure in the town of Montague. It was the year 1990 and Darcy Brennan was a still an intermediate high school student. Facing adversity but with a populous following he gracefully ascended the honorary political ranks to wear the chain of the mayor of the town of Montague. Along with his fellow intermediate high school students they had the bravery to stand up for what they believed in by voting and passing numerous bills on the town agenda that day. This monumentous event was even captured in the eastern graphic, and the news clipping is still on his aunt's fridge. So hooray to you Kerri Wynn Macleod and Darcy Brennan.... two of Montague's greats.

It is certainly an honour to have Kerri Wynne serve as our Mayor for a day - she is a great advocate for our town and we are very lucky to be able to claim such a wonderfully genuine person as our own. Blessings Kerr Wynne -
