Troy Douglas Carragher, 38, accused of holding up Charlottetown motel Sunday

A man who is charged with robbing a Charlottetown motel will be staying in custody until his case is dealt with.

Troy Douglas Carragher, 38, appeared before a justice of the peace in P.E.I. Supreme Court Tuesday morning for a show cause hearing where he consented to remain in custody.

A show cause hearing is used to determine if an accused should be held in custody while their case is before the courts.

Carragher is accused of robbing Canada's Best Value Inn in Charlottetown while armed with a metal tool and fleeing with an undisclosed amount of money.

The police allegedly followed Carragher's footprints in the snow before arresting him.

Carragher is scheduled to appear in court again on Feb. 18.
