Man accused of brandishing sword during police search remanded in custody

A 45-year-old Stratford man charged with multiple drug and weapons offences  after a search was carried out at his residence  on the weekend has been remanded in custody until dealt with.

Robert John Long was remanded in custody today following a show cause hearing before a justice of the peace.

Information released by police indicated a large quantity of drugs were seized by police as well as a quantity of cash.


Police also seized several large swords.

Long is alleged to have brandished a sword when confronted by police.

A publication ban prohibits the publication or broadcast of any evidence discussed during the show cause hearing.

Justice of the Peace Charles Thompson adjourned the case to Jan. 20 at 1 p.m. at which time he will appear in provincial court.
