ROSEBANK – The female driver of a Dodge Caravan was taken to Western Hospital in Alberton for treatment of minor injuries following a two-vehicle collision in Rosebank Monday afternoon.

West Prince RCMP, Island EMS, Alberton Fire Department and West-Isle Towing responded to the 3 p.m. incident.

RCMP Const. Renee Michiels of West Prince RCMP said the van collided with the rear of a half-ton truck which had stopped on Route 2 waiting for oncoming traffic to clear before turning into McCarthy’s Woodworking. The truck driver, Michiels said, noticed the van approaching and started to move forward and to the right in an effort to prevent the collision.

Around the same time, however, the driver of the van took evasive action and also pulled to the right, crashing into the rear of the truck.

The investigation into the collision is ongoing, but Michiels said neither speed nor alcohol were factors.

The drivers were the lone occupants of both vehicles.
