Prince Edward Island residents weary of all the snow and cold temperatures can look forward to – spring.

Well, it may not be spring but it sure may feel like it this weekend.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for all of Prince Edward Island for heavy rain Saturday night and Sunday.

An intense low-pressure system is expected to push a warm front over the Maritimes Saturday night and Sunday. “Significant rainfall, strong southerly winds and very mild temperatures causing significant melting is possible with this system,” Environment Canada warns.

The current forecast calls for cloudy skies and highs of plus six on Saturday.

The rain comes in Saturday night with heavy rain on Sunday, windy and temperatures reaching a high of plus seven.

The start of the workweek next week, on Monday, indicates sunny skies with highs still staying above freezing, with highs of plus two.
