Move over Ella because Brooklyn is taking your place as the most popular name for girls born in Prince Edward Island this year.
But when it comes to boys, Liam is still the reigning champ for the third year in a row.
Every baby born in P.E.I. is registered with the province’s vital statistics office and, as of Dec. 6, there were 1,255 of them this year with a total of 746 different names.
Unlike nationally, where the top girls’ name was Olivia, there were nine Brooklyns in P.E.I. and eight babies named Olivia. Ellie and Madison rounded out the top four.
For the boys, Liam was tops in the province and in Canada. There were 11 Liams born this year, followed by 10 Hunters with Connor and Jack filling the other top spots.
