Clocks go back one hour tonight. Brad Kennedy, left, and Bobby Chandler, Charlottetown firefighters encourage placing fresh batteries in smoke alarms and placing the alarms on all levels of sleeping areas of homes.
The Metro Fire Prevention Association (Crossroads, North River and Charlottetown Fire Departments) is reminding Islanders that Sunday, Nov. 3 is Daylight Savings Time where clocks will fall back one hour.
Daylight Savings Time also provides a special reminder to change the batteries in smoke alarms and update or install new smoke alarms.
Local firefighters will be on site at MacDonald’s Restaurant on University Avenue today from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. handing out smoke alarm batteries as well as educational information. The batteries are available on a first come, first serve basis with 300 available.
