During the weekend, Kings District RCMP along with the Street Level Drug Unit arrested two men and dismantled two separate marijuana grow operations in Kings County.
On Saturday, Sept. 14, police used a search warrant at a property in Gaspereaux and located an outdoor marijuana grow operation.
Two men were arrested nearby, a 50-year-old man from Gaspereaux and a 46-year-old man from Dundas. Both have been released and are to appear in court at a later date.
On Sunday police searched a separate property in the Gaspereaux area and located both indoor and outdoor marijuana grow operations.
In both searches, RCMP seized marijuana plants, dried marijuana, marijuana growing equipment, and drug paraphernalia.
A news release says the total quantity of marijuana seized could have produced up to 300,000 marijuana joints.
"The impacts and dangers of marijuana grow operations and the trade of illegal drugs is something that affects all Islanders," says Staff Sergeant Dave Thibeau of the RCMP in Kings District. "With these seizures we were able to keep a significant quantity of drugs from making onto the streets of our communities, and dismantle the grow operations that were producing these drugs".
The arrests were the result of a two-month investigation conducted by the Kings District RCMP, said the force.
