Rainfall warnings have now been extended to Prince County, which means all of Prince Edward Island is now under a rainfall warning as tropical storm Gabrielle moves closer and closer to the province.
Upwards of 50 to 60 millimetres of rain is expected over all but extreme western areas of Prince County before rain ends by Saturday morning.
"As Gabrielle tracks northward, its tropical moisture has begun to be drawn in to a frontal system which is forecast to sweep across Prince Edward Island today," Environment Canada says.
Heavy rain has begun on Prince Edward Island and will continue into tonight. Near 50 to 60 millimetres of rainfall is forecast with lesser amounts over the western half of Prince County.
