Marijuana plants seized by RCMP in Richmond.
RICHMOND – A 41-year-old man is facing trafficking charges after being busted with more than 460 marijuana plants here.
Prince District RCMP executed a search warrant at the man’s residence Saturday.
Police dismantled an indoor and outdoor marijuana grow operation, seizing 385 outdoor plants and 78 indoor plants.
Police also seized a scale, cash, small amount of dried marijuana and grow equipment, including ballast units, fans and high intensity grow lights.
The man was held in custody on unrelated charges and will appear in provincial court at a later date to answer charges of marijuana production and trafficking.
“This is a significant seizure of marijuana plants and will have a direct impact on the local marijuana trade" said Cpl. Andy Cook of the Prince district joint forces drug unit.
The search was also carried out with the Criminal Intelligence Service of P.E.I.
The Prince District JFO drug unit is comprised of officers from the East Prince and West Prince RCMP detachments and Summerside Police Services and is responsible for investigating drug offenses within the Prince District and Summerside city areas.
