Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Prince Edward Island warning of even heavier rains possible throughout the afternoon today.
Heavy rain can be expected throughout the day giving total rainfall amounts of 20 to 30 millimetres.
Up to 50 millimetres is possible before the rain ends this evening. The cause of all the rain is a slow-moving frontal trough that will continue to give rain, at times heavy, to Prince Edward Island today.
The public is advised to monitor future forecasts as warnings may be required.
Rainfall warnings are in place in central Nova Scotia including Halifax, Lunenburg, Colchester and Cumberland counties including the Cobequid Pass.
