The transportation of windmill parts over the next month will cause some traffic delays in Prince Edward Island, says individuals with the provincial RCMP and transportation department.
The travelling public will encounter restrictions along the route being used to transport the equipment every Tuesday and Thursday from today until Oct. 1.
Extended delays are expected at Upton Road and the Trans Canada Highway, as well as at the intersection at Grafton Street at the mouth of the Hillsborough Bridge.
The anticipated dates for the transport are: Aug. 29, Sept. 3, Sept. 5, Sept. 10, Sept. 12, Sept. 17, Sept. 19, Sept. 24, Sept. 26 and Oct. 1.
Convoys are anticipated to arrive in Charlottetown early to mid-afternoon today, with a maximum speed of 40 mph.
From Borden the anticipated route is:
- Highway 1 to Charlottetown
- Charlottetown by-pass/Riverside Drive, across Hillsborough Bridge
- Highway 1 to Cherry Valley
- Route 3 to Poole's Corner
- Route 4 to Dingwells Mills
- Route 2 to Route 307
- Route 307 to Route 16
- Route 16 to Hermanville site
