GEORGETOWN ROYALTY – The federal Liberal retreat in Prince Edward Island will wrap up today with leader Justin Trudeau speaking to the media before heading off to a party rally in Sydney, N.S.
Trudeau was more than willing Wednesday to discuss his marijuana use, but was far less transparent about the details of his economic policies.
Trudeau said he won’t be rushed into revealing his party’s cure for what’s ailing the middle class, saying such details will have to wait until the Liberals unveil their platform for the 2015 election.
The Liberal leader has been portraying himself as more transparent and honest than traditional political leaders since he admitted smoking pot three years ago, after being elected to Parliament.
He said only in Stephen Harper’s Canada could people actually argue that being honest is a calculated risk.
But as for his economic plan, Trudeau said the party will consult with the public, starting in earnest next month, to build a platform that will reflect the priorities, concerns and solutions of Canadians.
