Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau
Prince Edward Island will be painted red next week when the federal Liberal caucus comes to town.
Liberal MPs and senators, including the party’s leader Justin Trudeau, will be in P.E.I. to attend meetings and events for the party’s annual national caucus retreat.
The week will kick off with a campaign school for women followed by a town hall at the Convention Centre in Charlottetown.
Charlottetown MP Sean Casey and P.E.I. Senator Catherine Callbeck will moderate the town hall, which is focused on women in business and responsible natural resource development. Panelists for this event include MPs Marc Garneau, Joyce Murray, Kristy Duncan and John McCallum.
The town hall, which begins at 7pm, is open to the public.
On Tuesday, the meetings will move to the Rodd Brudenell River Resort. The morning will consist of closed-door meetings of the women’s caucus, Senate caucus and auto caucus.
Trudeau will arrive in Charlottetown Tuesday afternoon and plans to meet with locals and attend a Liberal youth event in the evening.
On Wednesday, national caucus meetings and policy sessions will be held. Premier Robert Ghiz is invited as a special guest for the day’s luncheon.
Then on Wednesday evening, a rally and social event will be held at Cardigan MP Lawrence MacAulay’s home.
MacAulay says this is a public event, and all Islanders are invited to attend.
“I know that all members of our caucus and our new leader will be treated with world-famous Island hospitality and I will be so proud to showcase our beautiful Island to every member of the Liberal caucus,” MacAulay said.
