GEORGEOWN - An RCMP veteran charged with taking drugs from the lock up at the Kings County detachment in Montague has elected to stand trial by Supreme Court judge alone.
Constable Blair Ross, a 25-year veteran of the force, was charged in the spring that he took prescription drugs from the locker for his personal use.
He was responsible for the exhibit lock up at the detachment barracks.
He is charged with breach of trust and theft and possession of a controlled substance.
Ross, who did not appear before Judge Nancy Orr in provincial court Thursday, was represented by his defence counsel.
His case is adjourned until 2 p.m., Sept. 13 in Charlottetown.
