STRATFORD — An autopsy will be performed Monday on a 56-year-old Stratford man who died during a shed fire Sunday morning.

Sgt. Andrew Blackadar said RCMP is working with the provincial Coroner’s Office to determine the cause of death. RCMP, Island EMS and Crossroads Fire Department responded to the fire on Aylward Drive in Stratford at 8:30 a.m. Sunday. The shed was engulfed in flames when police arrived. Blackadar said the man had gone outside to work on some machinery. “Next thing, his family realized the shed was on fire,” Blackadar said during an interview with The Guardian. “We don’t really know what happened or what caused the fire at this point.” The Provincial Fire Marshal’s Office is still investigating the cause of the blaze. Blackadar said RCMP will likely release the man’s name, which was being withheld pending notification of family, sometime Monday.

Enough fires already! We need education on fire prevention and awareness! Sympathy to the family so sad and senseless!
