SACKVILLE, N.B. – A Prince Edward Island man has admitted to his role in the attempted armed robbery of a New Brunswick pharmacy last week.

RCMP say Clinton Belcher of Summerside pleaded guilty Wednesday to a charge of attempted armed robbery.

The 29-year-old man will remain in custody until a sentencing hearing scheduled for May 23.

Belcher was among four men arrested after the March 14 incident at the Jean Coutu pharmacy in Sackville, about 48 kilometres southeast of Moncton.

Police say Belcher and another man threatened the clerk with a syringe and demanded narcotics.

Three other suspects are due in court Friday for bail hearings.

Why on earth would the other 3 names not be published. For instance one of the other 3 men coming up for bail hearings has already been up on charges for drugs many times and been put away for a few years. He should not been allowed to run around loose actually none of them should be

Pharmacy robberies are happening all over Canada and the US. It is just a matter of time before our Island pharmacies are targeted for the prescription painkillers that they carry. Until we treat addicts, crimes like this will continue to increase. I've known many addicts who were sent to jail (with no treatment inside) only to get out and use again. Treatment is the best solution. Yes, those who commit crimes must go to jail but there needs to be intensive treatment in the jail if we are to properly rehabilitate an addict.

Information provided by news makers as to how this situation occurred sometimes gives other bad people the idea to copycat. I know details are what people want but, as in this particular situation, places pharmacy staff in life threating situation.

      What details??

I don't see details? I actually see little details. Would it be any different if they had reported a gun/knife was used, probably not. It is obviously a case of addiction, put your complaining efforts into more funding for addiction services, and that will prevent this from happening.
