Driving off without paying for gas on more than one occasion has landed a 34-year-old Charlottetown man in hot water.

On Friday, March 15, the man, who's from the North Winsloe area, pumped approximately $55 worth of gas from the Cornwall Esso and left without paying.

Surveillance video showed the vehicle also had a stolen plate attached to it. A suspect could not be identified from the video.

A photo of the suspect vehicle was distributed and the vehicle was located today at the Stratford Sobeys.

RCMP members performed surveillance on the vehicle and arrested the owner of the vehicle as he exited the store.

The man subsequently admitted to stealing the gas from the Cornwall Esso as well as a previous theft of gas from Charlottetown.

The male will appear in court at a later date.

It will get to a point where you will need to pre-pay before you pump. No company can lose that much money ( I am not talking just this $55.00 theft) and stay in business for very long. There is also to many thefts of plates or stickers. It is about time that the plate be moved into the interior of the car to at least cut down on having the plate or sticker stolen and used on another car, which probably doesn't even have insurance.

I mean, I'm tempted to do the same thing due to the high cost of gas but you will get caught at some point so if I have to shell over my hard earned dough to pay for gas, so do you.
