Kings County should brace for another blast of winter.
Environment Canada has issued a winter storm warning for
Kings County P.E.I. only.
A low-pressure system developing south of Nova Scotia will intensify as it moves north tonight. The low is expected to track over Eastern Cape Breton early Friday morning.

“There is now more certainty on the track of this low as it approaches the region and it looks like the snow will push further west than previously indicated in our earlier forecasts,” Environment Canada says. “Snowfall amounts of 15 to 20 centimetres are expected for Kings County.”
Areas further west will see lesser amounts of snow.
Northerly winds developing overnight will be strongest over Kings County causing blowing snow to be more persistent there tonight and Friday morning.
Kings County
The forecast for Kings County calls for snow at times heavy beginning late this evening. Snowfall amount 15 centimetres.
Blowing snow before morning. Wind south 20 km/h becoming northeast 20 this evening then north 50 gusting to 90 before morning. Low minus 1.
Friday’s forecast calls for periods of snow and blowing snow ending in the afternoon then mainly cloudy with 40 percent chance of flurries. Amount 2 to 4 cm. Wind northwest 50 km/h gusting to 90 becoming west 30 gusting to 50 in the afternoon. High plus 1.
Queens and Prince counties
The rest of P.E.I. won’t be hit as hard, but it will snow across the Island.
Periods of snow is expected to begin near midnight in Queens and Prince counties. Snowfall amount 5 to 10 cm. Local blowing snow before morning. Wind south 20 km/h becoming northeast 20 this evening then north 40 gusting to 70 before morning. Low minus 2.
Friday’s forecast calls for periods of snow and local blowing snow ending in the afternoon then mainly cloudy with 40 percent chance of flurries. Amount 2 to 4 cm. Wind northwest 50 km/h gusting to 80 becoming west 30 gusting to 50 in the afternoon. High plus 1.
