Today is Commonwealth Day.
The Royal Commonwealth Society of P.E.I. invites everyone to attend its annual Commonwealth Day Observance at St. James Presbyterian Church (The Kirk), 35 Fitzroy St., Charlottetown, tonight at 7 p.m.
The theme of Commonwealth Day 2013 is Opportunity through Enterprise. The celebration includes the Commonwealth Day message from The Queen read by P.E.I. Lt.-Gov. Frank Lewis.
A distinguished guest will read the names of the 54 Commonwealth member countries as their flags are presented by Sea, Army and Air Cadets from P.E.I. The P.E.I. Regiment Band will also perform.
The special musical guest this year is Arioso, a group formed in 2008 that has performed at the Indian River Music Festival, Harmony House Theatre and Government House, among other venues.
There will be a freewill offering, and light refreshments will be served.
All are encouraged to attend. Decorations should be worn.
