Facebook has become quite the tool over the last number of years.

For Arlo and Leon Sutherland, it was how they found out about Amazing Race Canada. The identical twins, originally from Cape Traverse, P.E.I., have submitted their video and the views are starting to rack up on YouTube.

When the opportunity came, it was the perfect chance, said Arlo.

“We watched the Amazing Race for a long time, and even watching it gets us fired up and gets our competitive juices flowing,” he said.

So the twins jumped at the opportunity and thanks to the help of Ben Rayner the video was created.

“He had an idea for what he wanted to do for the video and he completed the editing. We owe a lot of the professional quality to Ben,” Leon said.

In the video they seem like the perfect duo. That wasn’t always the case, Leon said.

“When we were growing up in school we had a lot of difficulties being twins. We were always fighting for the same friends, affection from our parents. Everything.”

As the twins moved from elementary to high school things started to change.

“When we were in high school we blossomed into our own selves and got comfortable with each other,” said Arlo.

Like any siblings the Sutherland twins get into fights, something they think will help them in the selection process.

“We’ve been apart and every time we get back together it’s like we’ve never left each other,” said Arlo.

Neither of the twins lives on P.E.I anymore. Arlo lives in Calgary, where he works for Shell Oil, and Leon is in Ottawa working with the Plasco Energy Group.

Although they no longer live on P.E.I they know if they are selected they will be the Island’s team.

“Leon and I had an incredible time growing up on P.E.I. It will always be our home,” Arlo said.

The twins agree that Arlo is a talker and a charmer and Leon has the good looks and is the runner in the duo.

Leon said although his twin has a lot of strengths the duo needs each other to stay strong.

“He is a strong individual but can sometimes be an emotional roller-coaster, he needs me as much as I need him.”

As for Leon, he isn’t quite as emotional as his brother.

“He has a really strong will, despite not talking about his feelings he’s a really caring guy. He’s someone I’ve been proud to always have as my teammate, I always know he has my back,” Arlo said.

Their video which is posted on YouTube has kicked started the support for the pair.

“It’s been great to see the support,” Arlo said.

Just curious, but will the Guardian be featuring all those who put videos in for the amazing race? I know plenty of pairs who put in videos, this exposure would certainly help all who are vying for a spot. There is no reason to just focus on one team!

Good luck to you both! I haven't seen these guys in ages, but from what I remember, they would be a perfect addition to the game/show. Best of luck

Good luck to Arlo & Leon and hope they get selected to be on AR. This show is AMAZING and every week a different country. Their viewership increases every year. It would be great for PEI if the twins were sponsored and it would put the Island on the world map. Good luck.
