The Guardian has closed stories to comments in an effort to speed up repairs to the newspaper's website

Topics :
TC Media IT , The Guardian , Twitter.com/PEIGuardian , Prince Edward Island

Readers will have noticed over the last week that The Guardian’s website has been periodically unavailable and, even when available, slow to load.

The issue is with the website’s host servers and is being experienced by all TC Media newspaper websites.

TC Media is actively working on resolving these issues. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Among the measures we are taking to help speed up the repairs is closing new stories to comments. Thanks to those who have already taken the time to submit their thoughts. We hope to see commenting restored soon as your thoughts are valuable to us.

While the IT teams work around the clock to get www.theguardian.pe.ca functioning again, Prince Edward Island news and information can be found on our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/PEIGuardian and via Twitter at Twitter.com/PEIGuardian

The Guardian's e-edition is hosted on a separate server and not affected by the issues causing the disruptions to the website. This digital replica of The Guardian’s print edition is free of charge for subscribers.

View the e-edition here: http://theguardian.newspaperdirect.com/epaper/viewer.aspx

For more information, contact circulation@theguardian.pe.ca or call (902) 629-6000 or 1-800-267-NEWS (6397).

TC Media IT teams are doing all they can to have the site up and running as soon as possible and we at The Guardian join TC Media in expressing our apologies to our online readers.

We hope to have good news for you soon.
