@R MacD R MacD is only upset because they had only found out about the storm this morning at 6:30. They had not planned on getting a babysitter and instead of blaming oneself, they need to blame the school board. Some people need to plan a little more, that's all!

I'm for our children being safe.......they'll make up the fime in homework. I'd rather know that no children will end up in the ditch then split hairs over should we or shouldn't we close .... just incase we annoy someone.

Yes R Macd, why not have a half a day of productive education. Our national testing results have us amongst the lowest in the nation, I guess another missed day will hurt so much, or that half-day of literacy and numeracy wouldn't elevate bast Nunavut in the standings. Used to hear a lot from Mr. Currie and his summit group about how much they were doing for education for the future on the Island...not hearing so much from Ed the Eagle, Al MacIssac does he even publicly speak? So I guess we should feel bad for the students losing another day of education to our Canadian counterparts, but alos those hard-working teachers, because they couldn't get in today, I am sure this will add another late night of planning and correcting, or maybe even another Saturday spent correcting papers, or gosh darn, I bet a few will give up a day on the fast-approaching March Break without pay to make the education of our children still slighty below average on the Cnadaian scale. Safe driving in the rain folks!

We have had freezing rain in Summerside and it has been predicted for all the Island! Do you remember when we had freezing rain a few weeks ago and the kids were stuck at school because of dangerous icy roads? Do you think the bus drivers should be driving children in that?! Give your head a shake! Good call for all those involved in the decision to close ALL schools today!

I'm all for decision making that works in the best interests of our children and protects them now and into the future. Too bad the financial decision makers of our province are not so inclined to achieve the same goal.

This is absolutely absurd, Cancelled due to pending weather.. it is sunny outside in Stratford and Charlottetown. they could have had at least a half day of school.

@R MACD.... And if the freezing rain started within 1/2 hour of our children getting to school (and admit it, it is P.E.I., weather changes every minute!!!) - would you have been happy having your child out in that (or on a bus). Kudos to our School Board/Dept. of Education for calling this one perfectly!

Its freezing rain and windy out. If they had school for half the day they would have to walk in this. So that is the why they closed all day. duh.
