Man, 48, charged after stabbing in Charlottetown

Charlottetown police have charged a 48-year-old city resident for assault with a weapon following a stabbing incident Feb. 19.

Charlottetown police have charged a 48-year-old city resident for assault with a weapon following a stabbing incident this morning.

The assault arose from an incident at approximately 7 a.m. on Kent Street.

Police said the victim, who was known to the accused, received a stab wound to his hand that required treatment at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

The victim was treated and released while the accused was remanded into custody at the provincial correctional centre where he will remain until his next court appearance on Thursday.

The suspect also faces a breach of probation charge.

  TG, don't you have any guns. Why not? I pray to God that he arms at least 2 or 3 school teachers in every school. That way, if the crap does happen, at least someone in the school will be able to put the perpetrator down before he kills your or my child (ren). They could definitely put the perp down before the policew arrive. Schools where guns are prohibited are basically hanging out a sign stating "GUN FREE ZONE - IF YOU WANT TO KILL MANY THIS IS AN UNARMED VICTIM ZONE, not just a school zone.

UH OH we had better go and confiscate everyone's knives and kitchen utensils. Let's pass more knife control laws, etc., etc. This is a parody on what they are trying to do in the USA with gun control. People kill people, guns and knives do not. We had better pray that the USA does not lose its second amendment right to bear arms because that is all that is protectingthem and us from absolute tyranny. We in Canada have already been conquered by the power brokers that be. Is it just me or are thefts, robberies, violence, etc. all on the rise? Does anyone think that our governments failed economic policies have a direct correlation to the increase? Does our government think we are all stupid and cannot see that they do not care for the little guy?

  Why are you going on about the states? This is Canadian news so keep it as such. That's a poor parody seeing how there are many aspects. Especially how the intent is on banning automatic weapon clips. You can't hunt with an AK, only destroy whatever you shoot at. We use knives for food, work and many other aspects of our daily lives. It can be turned against others but it still has a purpose. Clearly you are following the loud rallyers and not getting your own facts straight. Please don't follow up or make this argument here. It's not the place for it. PS: when in history has there NEVER been theft and robberies? It's not on the rise. Raise your kids with good morales, not give them weapons so that everyone fears each other. Sheesh, this never ends.
