The first round of tenders for the 2013 construction season was released today.
The projects represent nearly $5 million in funding.
Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal Minister Robert Vessey says strategic investments will improve the safety and efficiency of Island roads and bridges while creating and maintaining jobs for Islanders.
“Investments in roads and bridges also help accelerate growth in our Island economy through the creation of jobs for Islanders and the efficient transportation of goods,” said Vessey.
He said additional tenders will be announced at a later date.
The projects announced today include the following:

The tendering process does actually happen.. I am in a line of work where I see this all the time and it is not just "given to their buddies". If it was that way then I know of some companies who do quite a bit of work for the Island that would never have any work!
