Metro Credit Union Music P.E.I. Week 2013 kicked off Friday in Charlottetown with an opening reception and a sold-out new rock show.
Two awards were given out throughout the evening, including Visual Artist of the Year and Hunter’s Ale House Rock Recording of the Year.
At the Art for Music event and opening reception held at Back Alley Music, Lorne Miller pixbylorne won the award for Visual Artist of the Year.
Miller’s work, along with the artwork from all nominees in this category (April Condon, Courtney Hogan, Maureen Chandler and Rachel Soucie Designs) will be on display at Back Alley Music in Charlottetown for the remainder of Metro Credit Union Music P.E.I. Week.
The new signature event, Nudie’s House of Rock, was a big success, selling out. During the event, Steven Barber presented the Hunter’s Ale House Rock Recording of the Year award to North Lakes for their album “Grand Prix.”
Music P.E.I. executive director Rob Oakie says Friday was a great kickoff to what is looking like “a fantastic week” of celebrating P.E.I. music.
Metro Credit Union Music P.E.I. Week will conclude Saturday, Feb. 2 with the 12th annual Music P.E.I. Awards Gala.
The remaining performers for the gala have been announced and include Dennis Ellsworth, Eddy Quinn, English Words, Gordon Belsher, North Lakes, Nudie, Paper Lions and The Meds. They join Coyote, Ian Toms Trio, Tim Chaisson, Two Hours Traffic and special guest Jenn Grant.
