ANTIGONISH, N.S. — The president of the union that represents faculty members at Saint Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, N.S., says a strike date has been set.

Peter McInnis says a strike notice has yet to be filed with the provincial labour board, but he confirms that union members will walk off the job Monday if an agreement isn’t reached during the next two days of talks.

McInnis, head of the Association of University Teachers, says talks broke down earlier this month and there’s been little movement since then.

The union leader says he hopes the help of a conciliator can avoid a strike.
