CALEDONIA — Two people were taken to hospital with serious injuries after their vehicles collided in Caledonia this morning.

Kings District RCMP is investigating the crash, which happened just before 7 a.m. at the intersection of routes 315 and 318, Wood Islands Road and St. Mary's Road West.

RCMP Sgt. Dave Thibeau says the crash involved a Kia Rio and a Ford Escort and it appears one of the cars drove through a stop sign and collided with the oncoming car.

The drivers, a woman in her 50s and a woman in her 60s, were alone in their vehicles and both were sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Charlottetown. It is expected they will be released from hospital today.

Thibeau exepcts charges will be laid under the Motor Vehicle Act.

Dear "Use-Your Brakes" - I find your use of the term 'idiots' inappropriate and insulting.... There are rules of the road that say if there is a STOP SIGN then that vehicle is obligated to use its brakes - obviously anyone that could would use theirs to avoid a collision but that is not always possible if the 'at-fault' vehicle has not even slowed - it hits you at just about the time you are aware of its presence - I have had many close calls at that very intersection when I had the right-of-way.

I see a Plan C in the works-time for me to start buying up as much land in this area as possible-are there any vacant amusement parks in Caledonia I can buy and get 6 times as much as I paid for it? Look out hippies-you'll have to find some place else to host Caledonia days!
