P.E.I. Senator Mike Duffy’s appearance caused a bit of a stir this week due to a noticeable rash on his forehead.

Duffy was in P.E.I. representing the federal government at a few news conferences to announce funding for some local initiatives.

The resulting photos that appeared in local media prompted some residents to express concern about the rash and what it could signify about the senator’s health.

In an email response to The Guardian earlier this week, Duffy said there is no cause for alarm.

“I am undergoing a facial peel, to remove several pre-cancerous spots on my scalp and face,” he said.

“The treatment was scheduled before the public appearances were scheduled. I am fine, and am told that in a couple of weeks, I’ll be my same old ‘handsome’ self.”

He added that it “actually looks a lot worse than it is.”
