Charlottetown, PE - A couple from Mermaid, P.E.I., have been arrested in connection with an investigation into the trafficking of prescription pills and LSD as the result of a search by the Serious and Organized Crime Unit of P.E.I RCMP, L Division.

Yesterday, January 10, 2013, R.C.M.P. members conducted a vehicle stop on the Brackley Point Road and from the vehicle police seized hydromorphone, commonly known as dilaudid, and LSD as well as a quantity of cash.

A 37-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman were arrested and charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and appeared in Provincial Court in Charlottetown today and were released in front of the Justice of Peace.

"Every drug dealer that we can stop on Prince Edward Island brings us closer to being one of the safest places in Canada to live,” says, Cpl. Reg Campbell, Drug Awareness Liaison with L Division RCMP.  “This arrest is the result of many hours of strategic and focused crime reduction work within the RCMP and we are committed to removing illegal activities from our communities.

"The majority of Islanders join us in this commitment and, because of that, and with their help, we can collectively make great strides towards shutting drug dealers down,” said Campbell.

Anyone who suspects illegal drug activity is taking place in their community is asked to contact their local RCMP office or, if wanting to leave information anonymously, contact P.E.I. Crime Stoppers at or 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), or www.peicrimestoppers.com

Everyone is hate'n on the poor guy. She is only young herself. The man in question is a father himself. Addictions has played a role in this situation. I went to school with the man from grade 7 and up. We use to order pizzas for lunch in grade 8. Blame the government not him. We all might have to start selling drugs to help survive with all the taxes and price of oil and HST. But be thankful he didn't get caught selling AMPLIFY TREES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That would be a crime to humanity.

DON they will get more jail time then the drunk murder did. Learn what a murder is will you. Do you know how many bikers get cut off by sober people every summer?

Maybe YOU should learn what a murder is. Killing someone else becasue of reckless indifference to an unjustifiably high risk to human life is actually defined as murder. A drunk driver that kills someone is therefore a murderer

"Every drug dealer that we can stop on Prince Edward Island brings us closer to being one of the safest places in Canada to live," I wish that were true but it's simply not the case. Regardless of how many of these busts there are it never seems to put a dent in the supply.
