Overflowing garbage bins at an apartment house on Queen Street in Charlottetown make for a handy buffet table for crows on New Years Day. The black birds were ripping and tearing apart the bags to get at what they saw as tasty treats. Crows are intelligent and opportunistic and are more than willing to take advantage of the sloppiness and laziness of humans living in their midst.

I agree 100 percent with Ann's comment people living in apartments do not have control over their green or black bins as my daughter rented in the city and others would fill her bins all the time on her.

It is obvious the people in this building are not sorting garbage. Note the compost bin is not overflowing while the waste bin is full and overflowing. Plastic bags are all over the place. Obviously there is food in the waste bin when it should be in the green bin.

They are lazy they are not sorting there garbage and it should be in clear bags !!! If there waste was sorted properly the crows would not be there because there would be no food in the waste cart !!!!!

If you are looking for an apartment building that could feed you daily stories on sloppy, head to Killiam Properties on Kensignton Rd. Cigarette butts cover the ground so think, you would think it is snow. Garbage stuck in the trees and bushes all summer. Gutters full so when it rains you cannot get out the front door. And they have the nerve to ask for rent increases based on maintenance.

The people here mocking this light and slice of life photo really need to get a life. They are spending way to much time in their parent's basement or the local library's CAP site posting comments and trying to make people think they have something to say. Believe me, they have nothing to say. They even attack spelling errors and then make spelling errors of their own. Unbelievable. The only time they crack a smile is when some little old lady slips and falls in the ice in front of the Tims as they sip their double double and smoke on the curb.

i just cant understand, if you have nothing to report on, why dont you just headline a major story in a different community or different country? like honestly? crows? eating? like they do every day of the year? it mind boggles me that this is considered news while their are thousands of more important things you could be reporting on, this makes us, as a province look completely idiotic, this is the FIRST headline on the website.. the FIRST headline that people will see.... and its a picture of garbage? wow

" Crows are intelligent and opportunistic and more than willing to take advantage of the sloppiness and laziness of humans living in their midst" Really The Guardian? You want to pass judgement on random citizens of Charlottetown now? Sound to me like you are calling the tenants of this building sloppy and lazy. Does this reporter know anything about this building or it's residents? I think the adjectives sloppy and lazy would be fair if the tenants did NOT throw their garbage out. Who knows how many people have to share this one bin? Or how many people who do not live there randomly tossed their garbage in this bin. I used to rent downtown and I had to chain and lock my bin so strangers didn't fill it with their crap. In another building we had 3 apartments sharing one regular sized bin thanks to a cheap landlord. Trust me, when you rent a small place, you have no room to store your garbage bags indoors and away from crows. Oh and God forbid you move and have more than the regular amount of trash to get rid of... Yup, I'm very disappointed with this caption.

Sloppy and lazy??? It would be fitting if you proof read, and correct your grammar. Before accusing others of the same!!!
