BELMONT LOT 16 — A 23-year-old woman was taken to hospital with undetermined injuries following a two-vehicle accident earlier this morning in Belmont Lot 16.

The area where the accident occurred, at the intersection of Route 123 and Route 12, was closed to traffic for more than three hours as RCMP continued its investigation.

Miscouche Fire Chief Jason Woodbury said his department responded to the scene with 19 firefighters and two vehicles. Also on scene was Island EMS.

“We received the call at approximately 6:30 this morning of the two-vehicle MVA on Route 12,” said Woodbury. “The roads were considerably slippery this morning at that time.”

He couldn’t comment on the cause of the crash, but did say it involved a half-tonne truck and a smaller car.

“The half-tonne truck was heading east and the smaller vehicle was heading west,” said Woodbury. “The driver of the half-tonne truck suffered no injuries.”

Both the injured woman and the driver of the truck were the only occupants in their vehicles.

Woodbury said damage to the smaller vehicle was extensive.

The fire department was on scene for roughly two hours. Police are still at the scene.
