Summerside appoints acting CAO

SUMMERSIDE — City council has appointed Gordon MacFarlane as acting chief administrative officer (CAO) for the city.

The appointment became effective Dec. 1 with the retirement of current acting CAO Malcolm Millar at the end of November.

MacFarlane, who holds a bachelor of law degree from Dalhousie University and bachelor of kinesiology degree from Acadia University, has been employed with the city since 2006 as the director of human resources and legal affairs. He has also been serving as acting deputy CAO since April of this year.

He has previously served as acting director of the city’s community services department and is past president of the Greater Summerside and Area Chamber of Commerce.

“MacFarlane has been a valued employee for a number of years as an integral part of our senior management team and brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the position,” said Mayor Basil Stewart.

Be very careful Gordon, don't follow the same path as the last CAO, of course he was not alone, every decision he made was approved by Mayor Basil Stewart and Deputy Mayor MacDougall, make no mistake. These two are real good at spending money on Small City Big Opportunities such as Concert Fiasco, Fibre Opitics just to mention some, at the tune of millions. Not something to to proud of for such a nice City. Mayor Stewart has the whole set up arranged for a tie vote in any situations after Councilors Holman and Steele turned coat, they promised Transparency & Accountability, well look at what they did regarding the release of the Hopping Report, shame on them. Oh well in less that two years the Old Boys Club will be history at last. Good luck Gordon, remember be careful, you are a lawyer by profession. Forensic Audit would be the only way of exposing all the cover ups in Summersicde over the last number of years.
