Dirt bike rear ends car in Tyne Valley

TYNE VALLEY- A dirt bike rear ended a car just moments before the Tyne Valley Oyster Festival began early on Saturday afternoon.

Island emergency services were on the scene at the corner of Barlow and Bideford Road in Tyne Valley after a dirt bike rear ended a car near the local rink. A teenger from Ellerslie was driving the dirt bike, and a teenage girl was riding on the back.

The accident caused a slight delay in the annual Tyne Valley parade as it occured just before 1 p.m.

The driver of the bike was transported to Prince County Hospital in Summerside where he was treated for possible head injuries, but for nothing life threatening. The young girl also sustained minor injuries.

RCMP continue to investigate.

The accident caused a delay in the parade.Isn't that a shame? Better the kids should be OK then worry about your silly parade being held up!

....they need to crack down on off road vehicles, on road....one only needs to ride west of Summerside to see it all. It also seems to be a "western" issue, you , for example, do not find ATVs and Dirt Bikes on the streets of Souris....
