Boy killed in accident at Raceway Park in Oyster Bed Bridge

A three-old boy riding a bicycle at Raceway Park in Oyster bed Bridge was struck and killed by a driver in his pickup truck who was travelling from the waiting area to the track area Sunday afternoon.

The boy was taken to the QEH by Island EMS and was pronounced dead. The driver of the truck was a 28-year-old resident of Nova Scotia who was participating in the days races and knew the boy and his family. Names have not been released by the RCMP. Speed and alcohol are not believed factors and the investigation continues, RCMP said in a news release.

    It was an unfortunate accident! How devastating for everyone concerned. May his little soul rest in peace and his family find comfort and strength in the days to come.
