I don't want children and if the time ever comes of me being pregnant. I will have a abortion. How dare they tell me what to do with my uterus!

I applaud these people who are not afraid to speak out. The pro-life stance is not popular and many supporters do not want to speak out. In fact, many ppl do not want to speak about abortion at all. It's very unpleasant and emotional, but it needs to be considered.

Joe - I think you don't understand the way that PEI society is evolving. We have moved past the 1980s and 1990s and are actually catching up to the rest of Canada in terms of societal development. If what I'm hearing, reading and seeing, I think that a majority of Islanders are quite accepting of abortion as a necessary medical procedure that is part of a complete offering of health care services to all Canadians.

Isn't that the line the reproductive rights folks gave us? Islanders didn't know enough about abortions and needed to be educated? If one side is going to make a public stand, then the other side should be allowed to. Either both get a say or both shut up. You can't let one side speak and then announce we know all we need to and can make up our own mind.......... Unless someone is afraid of what people might learn.

I find it funny that most of the women who attend are waaaaay too old to get pregnant. Not exactly stakeholders.....

People have a right to choose to have an abortion or not. Not everybody is ready to have kids when they find out they are pregnant and not everybody wants to have kids for a person that may have raped them. Its a choice that people should have the right to make!!! If you want to complain about something....complain about the lack of birth control methods that are used in this day and age!!!

What gives you people the right to say that you are going to educate the people of PEI about abortion? Do you think that Islanders are stupid and don't know about abortions.I don't need you to educate me. Everyone understands abortion, some are for, others are against. Your view is only one side of the equation and you think that there is only one side. Well you are wrong, so please don't try to push your views on us Islanders. Were adults and can make up our own minds.

No hate filled comments yet. Every other story that remotely touches a medical topic has someone screaming that basic human rights aren't respected here, but an actual abortion story.......nothing.

I am pleased that Mr. Hebert will never consider having an abortion.

Apparently this group wants to make sure that people know the "true facts" about abortion. That's rich, coming from a group that until recently didn't even know that abortions are already performed in PEI. Their plan seems to be to force the government to break the law. There's only one way that can go - Carry On Anti-Choicers!

      What Law
      - January 3, 2012 at 20:49:46

What law? There is no law. The court case said that a hospital board could not tell a woman she wasn't allowed to not have an abortion at an abortion clinic even if she was going to pay for it herself. It has nothing to do with the government being forced to pay for it. If I am wrong, show me the law. I'm betting you can't find one. In the US there are laws. Not in Canada.

If abortions are performed on PEI what is all the fuss over? I thought the big issue was that abortions were not performed on PEI?
