This year marks the 160th anniversary of the granting of responsible government in

Prince Edward Island. To mark this achievement, the Legislative Assembly will be hosting several events throughout 2011, including a "Celebrate 160" lecture series.

The inaugural Celebrate 160 lecture will take place at 7 p.m. on Tuesday in the lecture theatre at Province House, located at 165 Richmond St. in Charlottetown.

Sen. Mike Duffy will deliver a speech on responsible government in the age of Facebook, discussing the struggle for responsible government, which meant so much to Islanders 160 years ago, and how it can serve to inspire citizen involvement in today's political and democratic context.

Admission is free; however, seating is limited and those interested in attending are asked to contact Barb O'Donnell, Office of the Speaker, at 902-368-4310 or by e-mail at baodonnell@assembly.pe.ca.

Speaker Kathleen Casey will host a reception with light refreshments following

the lecture. The Celebrate 160 lecture series will continue throughout 2011, providing an opportunity to learn more about the historical importance and present-day application of the concept of responsible government.

Responsible government???? HAHAHAHAH.....there is no such thing!!! I've never met 1 politician who has done anything with the PEOPLES best interests at heart and I've never met 1 politician who's accepted the blame for their mistakes and wrong-doings.....NEVER!!! Give me a government that holds themselves accountable and doesn't steal tax money and doesn't believe in patronage and I'll show you the first honest and responsible politician!! Until then, they are all a bunch of lying crooks!!

This is a great opportunity but is Senator Duffy impartial to government today now that he is a Conservative Senator.
