PICTOU, N.S. - Police say no charges are anticipated in a single-vehicle collision on Sunday that sent eight people from Charlottetown to hospital.

RCMP Sgt. Everett Smith was not able to update the conditions of the people injured in the accident that occurred on Hwy. 106, nor were any names released.

Police reported Monday that one male sustained serious head injuries in the crash while a female suffered several broken bones.

The van, with eight occupants, went off the road around 9:30 a.m. The people were all from Charlottetown and were headed toward the Northumberland Ferries Ltd. terminal in Caribou when the van went off the road and flipped several times.

Seven occupants were taken to the Aberdeen Hospital in New Glasgow and one man was airlifted to Halifax. All were adults.

Smith was not able to shed light on the relationship of the eight occupants or the nature of their trip.

How can one have a single vehicle collision? Doesn't it take at least two vehicles to have a collision?
