A mystery fifth candidate has entered the race to be leader of the Progressive Conservative Party and now The Guardian can confirm it is Jamie Ballem.
The party held a news conference late Friday afternoon to introduce their candidates.
The four known candidates – Olive Crane, Jamie Fox, Peter Llewellyn, and Fred McCardle – were in attendance.
During an interview with the media following the news conference, Sylvia Poirier, president of the PC Party, confirmed an application had been received from a fifth candidate.
That candidate met the 4 p.m. deadline but because the party has not approved his application, they are not releasing the name of the candidate.
Sources now confirm that mystery candidate is Ballem.
Born in Marshfield, Ballem served as environment, energy and forestry minister under Pat Binns's Progressive Conservative government. He was defeated in the 2007 provincial election.
Ballem now operates an energy company that promotes the development of wind power, something he also did while he was environment minister.
... The race is now on for the PC leadership. Full details in The Guardian on Saturday.

Mr. Ballem doesn't even have his own wind company. He is a wind power consultant. How is he supposed to sell wind power to his own company when he doesn't run any actual turbines himself? I think you need to read up on your facts before posting something like this.
