HALIFAX — As Percy Paris, tourism minister, puts it: “Who could resist those tugboat eyes?”

Theodore Too tugboat, made famous by the 1980s children’s television show and now owned by Murphy’s, is making a promotional run to the United States this winter.

On Thursday the boat left for Fort Lauderdale, Fla., where it will participate in the Winterfest Boat Parade in December.

In fact, Theodore will lead the massive parade, which attracts more than one million spectators and is televised nationally.

“We’ll have a variety of stakeholders on board and we’re going to be doing the parade and promoting Nova Scotia tourism, and that’s going to be huge media value,” said Jeff Farwell, general manager of Murphy’s.

After the parade, Theodore will travel with the Tall Ships Challenge – Atlantic Coast 2012 Race up the East Coast.

Miss seeing him on the webcam in Halifax! Enjoy the warm weather - we have snow here. I will be at the waterfront when he comes back to us in Halifax. You take care and be safe!!!
