Chuck Gallison, fish and wildlife program officer with the P.E.I. department of environment, energy and forestry, identified the species of whale. Residents of the area discovered it Wednesday morning. Minke whales typically grow to about 7.8-9 meters in length and weigh 5.4-6.8 tonnes.
