From community barbecues and flag-raising ceremonies in rural areas of the province to big concerts and a massive fireworks display on the Charlottetown waterfront, Canada Day on P.E.I. will offer something for everyone.
Depending on what part of the province you live in, the day's activities may include anything from a parade through town and a community concert to a fishing derby.
There will be ceilidhs, card parties, trivia events, kite-flying competitions, tree-planting ceremonies and bingo.
And in virtually every community, Islanders and visitors to the Island will come together to sing O Canada and eat cake.
The provincial ceremony marking Canada Day will be held in Tignish at noon on Wednesday, beginning at 11 a.m.
The biggest celebration by far will take place in Charlottetown, the provincial capital, where the day's events commence at 11 a.m.
The morning will be highlighted by a performance of Abegweit: The Soul of the Island by the Confederation Centre Young Company.
The official opening ceremonies for the city's celebrations will take place at noon at Founders Hall.
Tourism Charlottetown has scheduled a full slate of activities for the waterfront as part of SummerFest celebrations.
Those activities include a petting zoo, SandLand, a pirate training camp, a lumberjack show, Razzmatazz, the fringe urban zone, tours of Founders Hall and a 10-hour concert for Canada.
The concert will feature performances by Native Gumbo, The Count and the Cuban Cocktail, Korean Drummers, the College of Piping, the Boys in the Kitchen, The Idlers, Peter MacDougall, Leon Gallant, Jeff Morris, Arrows in the Air, The Meds, Andy Brown, Chris Kirby and Paper Lions.
The day closes with what's being billed as the second largest musical fireworks extravaganza in Canada.
Choreographed to a high-energy soundtrack, the Canada Day fireworks will illuminate the skies over Charlottetown with a brilliant display of colour starting at 10 p.m.
Canada Day falls on the second day of SummerFest, Charlottetown's newest festival.
Over the course of five days the city's historic waterfront will play host to a wide range of activities and events geared for the whole family.
The crowning jewel of the festival is a new production created by the world famous Cirque du Soleil especially for Prince
Edward Island.
Cirque du Soleil will present the first of those performances tonight at 9:45 on a huge stage erected at Confederation Landing Park. Performances are also slated for Friday and Sunday nights at 9:45 p.m.
Each performance will be preceded by a parade down Great George Street which commences at 9:15.
The main event for music lovers goes Saturday night when Canadian rock icons Randy Bachman and Fred Turner, who rocked the world as Bachman Turner Overdrive, take the stage in their new persona as Bachman & Turner.
They will share the festival stage with Great Big Sea and Matt Mays.
SummerFest will also feature performances by the Doodlebops, Twisted Ones, Razzmatazz, Kobbler Jay and Keith Leaf's Juggling Odyssey.

O Canada...What a wonderful country..It causes me great pain when I hear people say that we are living in an oppressed nation run by a dictator. Our nation is second to none with all its diversity reflected by its landscape and its people. Our freedoms protected, by the Charter, are the envy of most. This land of opportunity offers so much to those who are willing to work hard and participate in its wonders. This Island is part of that wonder. Let's all take time out and appreciated the positive and see how we can work together to make it even better. Fill your hearts with pride and joy when you hear our national anthem and see our beautiful flag. God bless Canada....
